Purpose
The Centre for Renewable Energy Sources and Saving (CRES) (www.cres.gr), founded in September 1987 by Presidential Decree 375/87, is a public entity supervised by the Ministry of Environment and Energy and is active in the fields of Renewable Energy Sources (RE), Rational Use of Energy (RUE) and Energy Saving (ES). Its primary aim is to promote technological applications in the RES/RUE/ES fields both at a national and international level, as well as the support of related activities in these fields. CRES has a scientific staff of more than 110 highly qualified engineers and other scientists and its total personnel numbers 155 people.

Missions (in general)
CRES was appointed by Law 2244/94 and Law 2702/99 as the National Centre for Coordination in the fields of its activity. In addition, through recent Law 4342/2015, transposing the EED (2012/27/EU) into the Greek legislation, CRES was appointed as the National Coordination Centre supporting the implementation of national policy for improving energy efficiency and for the promotion of RES, in line with the provisions of the Law. Its role includes providing technical support to public bodies for the preparation and implementation of actions to improve energy efficiency in buildings or other areas of their activities; implementing information, awareness-raising and technical, capacity building activities; providing technical support to the Ministry of Environment and Energy in relation to national policies and meeting national obligations related to buildings’ energy performance, energy-efficiency, renewable energy, cogeneration.
Furthermore, CRES is a National Coordinator of the Covenant of Mayors for Climate and Energy, providing technical support and training to local authorities / Municipalities in Greece, for the preparation, implementation and monitoring of Sustainable Energy (& Climate) Action Plans for their territories

I am a physicist. I have a postgraduate Diploma, in environmental physics from the Physics Dept. of the University of Athens.
I was working as a research scientist in the Group of Building Environmental Studies (University of Athens) (2002-2010) where I had participated in a variety of European research and applied projects in energy conservation, integration of renewable energies in buildings, indoor air quality, thermal comfort and passive cooling.
I am currently working as a building physicist in CRES and I have participated in a variety of national and European projects, which are contributing to energy saving and RES installation in buildings as well as in the development and implementation of legislative framework adopting EU policy directives.
My technical skills include experimental testing, air tightness and ventilation measurements, and dynamic thermal modelling.
